My brother, the champion!

My brother is a competitive bodyboarder. Scratch that... He's a professional competitive bodyboarder. Sean has been hitting the wave since he was 9 and I've never seen him happier than when he's on the water.
Yesterday, he competed in New Braunfels, the place where it all started for him. As a proud sister, I sat with my in-laws in the grandstands and watched as Sean surfed into 1st place in the pro division, smiling the whole time.

As I sat there watching him have the time of his life, I smiled. I realized that in those moments when he is surfing and smiling and laughing, he makes me smile and laugh with him. He also makes everyone around him smile and laugh too. People just love to watch him. Sean makes surfing look easy and fun. He's the first person to step up and teach someone how to do it and he cheers everyone on as they take on the task. It's people like Sean who are genuinely happy and full of life that make life better for everyone. Sure, he's my brother and I'm biased but I can also say he can be just as annoying and frustrating as anyone. I just choose to see the good more because it far outweighs the bad by light years.

So, in honor of Sean's win yesterday and birthday today, I am kicking off this new blog with video from one of his runs yesterday.

Sean - if you ever read this, I want you to know I am incredibly proud of you! You are one of the many things that makes me so very very happy!

Happy birthday bud!!!
